Academic Convenor of CAWRI Dr Trisnasari Fraser talks to Dr Leon de Bruin, Senior lecturer in Music, Performance teaching at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Leon discusses the progress of his pilot project investigating student wellbeing and resilience gained through instrumental music engagement in secondary schools. Trisna and Leon discuss the value of instrumental music engagement for adolescents' sense of belonging and achievement, as well as cognitive critical thinking skills that transfer from music training across into other domains.
